I found this gem of a hotel by searching for a spa break near Liverpool. It really is an excellent place to unwind. Our twin bedded room was lovely - warm, comfortable, excellent tv options, free wi-fi (which I struggled to connect to but the lovely receptionist was very helpful and sorted me out quickly) and a very clean bathroom. Definitely 10 out of 10 for the room! But, when we went to the spa and swimming pool, our expectations were exceeded by 100%! Very clean, beautifully decorated and lit, the sauna was lovely and didn't smell of stale sweat and old wood! The Jacuzzi was very relaxing, the steam room was just as it should be and the pool was a real delight. Calming, clean, large enough to swim for exercise as well as pleasure and not too deep or cold (88 degrees). After two hours swimming, steaming, and relaxing, we headed for the Treatment Room for our pre-booked massages. I had chosen the tranquility scalp massage, which was done by Jo and was absolutely superb. Not too hard, not too soft but just right, in a peaceful setting perfectly lit. My daughter had chosen the back massage and came out looking and sounding like a zombie, she was so chilled. After 2 weeks of exams at Uni, this was just what she needed. We went back to our room to prepare for dinner (all included in our package) and the restaurant certainly did not let us down. The menu was delightful, the service was excellent and the food was prepared with all those little extra touches that turn a good meal into a great one! (Hot and clean plates - so hard to find these days...) I chose the salmon option for my main course - excellent - but the sauce on the side was even better! There was just a hint of lemon, which did not overpower the dish but complimented it perfectly. And, as it was served just to the side of the fish, did not interfere with the delicious salmon, served on a bed of hot spinach. We slept like babies and woke to a lovely breakfast, served in a different restaurant with a buffet option. Again, hot plates and so much to choose from! Tea and coffee delivered to the table by request, plenty of toast and croissants - lovely! This hotel really does push the boat out when it comes to service and cleanliness and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break in the north west. Why I am only just doing this reveiw I don't know, as we have stayed here quite a number of times and will do in the future. We also had our wedding reception here and everything was so well organised, Helen our wedding co-ordinater was on hand to see that everything was perfect for our day and it was. Whenever we stay the staff are all lovely, smiling and on hand to chat or answer any questions. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel relaxed and cared for, as that is how the staff make you feel. The rooms are all good sizes and clean, what more can you ask for while away from home !

We stayed here for one night - and would definitely recommend this hotel. We booked a deluxe double (dinner, B&B offer £140) and the room was lovely. Clean, well presented, good use of space, lovely decor, very comfortable bed and great shower. We had a nice view onto the courtyard. A few reviews mention the noise - this was certainly not a problem. On the night of our stay there were two separate functions (retirement party & wedding) - and we didn't hear a thing once we turned into the accommodation area. The food in Bennett's Restaurant was lovely and the waiting staff were attentive, chatty and professional. There isn't a huge selection at breakfast, but certainly enough to keep you going. Gym goers will not be disappointed, the range and quality of equipment is excellent. I can't comment on the pool/changing areas as I didn't use them.
